I’ll be honest, I really hate the idea of remakes. They’re pointless, all they really accomplish is ruin the original movies shine. But this remakes is an exception. Really, when I think about it there is only two other remakes that exceed the original. John carpenter’s The Thing and Night of The Living Dead ‘90. All the other ones failed in some way to bring anything new to the plate. Originally when they first planned the TCM remake I couldn’t think of a worse idea. But now after viewing it I have to give them a lot of credit for what they did. Created a remake that out does the original. That’s not to say though that there isn’t any downsides to this film. I’m sure you already know what It’s about so I won’t spend anytime on that. Where the film lacks is in two places, the first one being the “teen feeling” of the film. What I mean by this is that it feels like another Scream type film. The other is the whole Leatherface face disease thing. You would think it would be cool to see what he looks like under that mask, but it really just doesn’t work, as the filmmakers try to feed us some story about a disease that is eating away at his skin. Besides from those two things there is nothing else to really complain about. It’s a mind bending rise throughout the film, although there is some things that make no sense and don’t really fit anyway that are never explained, such as the trailer family for intense. But try not to ponder over these scenes too hard, it gets in the way of the rest of the film.
