It’s a very silly premise I must admit, a film about hundreds of thousands of worms taking over small town and feeding on the inhabitants. But it works out. In a small town (the name and place of it escapes me) during a fatal storm an electricity tower is blown over thus sending thousands of bytes of electricity into the ground. This causes an uproar in the worm community and they soon all start surfacing around the town. Thing is though they don’t like light, but when night falls that’s a different story. Watch as thousands of worms invade a families house filling it up almost to the ceiling and then disappearing without a trace at the break of dawn. Cause that’s a exactly how it ends. It’s sort of a lame ending really. Makes you think that they ran outta ideas in the end. The film in it’s own right isn’t that bad though. Be warned though it’s a very slow moving film and in the end it never really does get rolling. People who get grossed out by worms and snakes should more then likely stay away from this film. Interestingly enough during the film there is close ups of worms with these mouths biting and such, and evening make these screaming noises. Now unless this is some sort of worm I’ve never heard of before it’s very unlikely that worms do that. There’s not much here for gore either except for a gross scene where worms crawl into a guys face and burrow into the flesh. If you were to take away the worms this film could be something scene on the lifetime channel if you think about it. It’s also classified by the time period it was made, set and cloths wise, I’m not sure what time period they were going for but you can tell this was made in the 70’s even though they try to make it look like it was in a different decade. Squirm is a very limited movie in some parts and a very slow story, one view would probably be enough for most people, a good rental, but it wouldn’t be the film to get if your having a party, more then likely it will get turned off half way through.
