Sleepaway Camp Review

Sleepaway Camp

Like many other films, Sleepaway Camp was made after the success of Friday The 13th, it’s sequels, and other slasher films at the time. This one however is quite different from the rest. It does take place at a summer camp out in the middle of the woods and it does involve a psychotic killer like in the other movies, but it’s the fact that this one is just so messed up that it sets itself away from the rest. For one it was made for a way small budget (if like the other ones weren’t), it tends to be slow at times, which really just ads to the campines of the film. Teems play a major part in this film as well. To Tell you the truth it seems as if the whole cast is a bunch of younger teens except for 3 or 4 people, they have to have some authority running the place. What sticks out the most about this kids is what they are wearing. Would you look at those cloths!! Boy is this film dated in that way. Some of the acting in this is from a whole other world. Sometimes I wonder if they even bothered writing a script for some scenes. that’s not to mention all the scenes that have nothing to even do with the film, time wasters if you may. One of these being the overlong Baseball game which shows off how bad they are at playing and that’s about it. What’s the point. Now onto Angela, boy does this girl have problems. I would hate to be the girl that plays her after being in this movie, look how it portrays her. She doesn’t talk, all she does is sit there and stare at the ground, and she can’t even do that without you wanting to break out in laughter. Then in one scene she just starts talking out of the blue, then stops again! This all leads up to the ending which has been claimed to be one of the most shocking endings ever filmed. It’s more stupid then anything, and the movie might as well just give it away before it happens, seeing they hint to it so much. One last thing I have to say is what is wrong with Angels Aunt? That has to be some of the worst acting that comes out so funny when it ties to be serious. This movie has to be scene to be believed I must say. Slasher buffs get ready for a good laugh with this film, it’s so bad it’s good. It is followed by Sleepaway Camp 2 and 3 and an the long lost Sleepaway Camp 4 and the upcoming Sleepaway camp sequel.
