One of the very first horror movies to appeal to a big audience, along with Frankenstein this set the trend of both Monster Movie and other genre films for years to come. This was based on Bram Stoker’s novel and also another famous adaptation of the novel entitled Nosferatu. Also along with Frankenstein this is one of the greatest monsters to ever hit the screen, everybody has herd of it. This is the film that also kicked off the horror career of Bela Lugosi.
Based on the book by Mary Shelley this introduced one of the greatest Monsters put on screen, Frankenstein, who was played by Boris Karloff which also started off his foray into the universal monster films of the time. I doubt there is one person out there who has never heard of Frankenstein, and it all started with this movie.
The second major adaptation of the novel is another Universal monster movie after the success of Dracula and Frankenstein. For it’s time this movie was very extreme with it’s onscreen transformation and split personality antics. Many of you are probably wondering why it’s under 1931 and not 1932, is because it actually came out on December 31, 1931.
